Conception over Convention

NGV Guide Wendy Hughes-Chuck explores the creative journey of Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons and uncovers the hidden layers of her design ethos and conceptual working methods.

Collecting Comme examines the radical concepts and design methods that have informed Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons since 1981. Featuring more than fifty examples drawn from the NGV’s significant Comme des Garçons holdings the exhibition highlights key collections and recurrent themes in Kawakubo’s work.

This event is owned and operated by National Gallery Victoria and proudly promoted by Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival as part of the Independent Program. Please contact the organiser directly for further information.
