The Couture Culture exhibition is a unique collaboration display of Indigenous talent and feminine designer gowns. Albertini has established a strong relationship with art centres from remote NT communities, developing one off couture gowns with their designs as the main feature.
Each gown is identified by the art design name, the artist and their community and are individually crafted as unique pieces of wearable art yet remaining elegant and stylist. This collection of silk gowns will display design works from art centres such as Babbarra, Injalak Arts, Merrepen Arts and Palngun Wurnangat Aboriginal Corporation.
The fabrics were hand screen printed for this exhibition which gives the artist an involvement into the couture world of fashion. The exhibition of gowns on mannequins allows the viewer time to appreciate the art work detail incorporated into the design.
This exhibition is aimed at the art lover who also happens to appreciate quality fashion, with an individual story attached to each gown.
