Marché aux Puces
The performance takes place on the streets of Eugene Atget’s Paris, where market traders, street walkers, flâneurs and common citizens congregated in the late nineteenth century, Belleville is reimagined as a Parisian market place, a galerie of temptation and opportunity. Models mingle with shoppers and the traders of Paris. Swapping old garments for new the surface of the garments take on the appearance of found embroideries and faded prints from Gobelins. Rag pickers repair the old clothes for resale.
This performance is one in a series first designed by S!X in 2017 and is an on going project to reimagine Paris and its history of craft.
