Sewn Together

Exhibition

A new collaborative project between The Social Studio, Bus Projects and Barpirdhila Foundation which will facilitate the creation of three garments and a fashion runway at Collingwood Arts Precinct, Melba Spiegeltent.

This project will bring together a selection of practitioners from diverse backgrounds who will work with each other to learn, collaborate, share skills and experiment with new mediums.

We will be working with artists and designers Ruby Brow, Kristy Dickinson, Alex Dubois, Tahnee Edwards, Caeylen Fenelon-Norris, Nancy Oziya, Zara Sully, and Sky Thomas.

Each organisation will bring practitioners to work on the project. We will then pair practitioners from each organisation together into collaborative working groups to make a garment together. The artists will lead the design and production of each garment with the organisations acting as facilitators to the project. There will be a series of workshops to facilitate the creation of the three garments. Workshops will be held at Barpirdhila Foundation and Bus Projects. The garments will be created in The Social Studio workshops. The Social Studio will also provide mentor makers to assist with the production of the garments. We aim for this project to be zero waste.

The final outcome will be held at The Collingwood Arts Precinct, Melba Spiegeltent with a runway walk and launch party.

Free event, RSVP not required.

This event is owned and operated by The Social Studio, Bus Projects and Barpridhila Foundation, and proudly promoted by Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival as part of the Independent Program. Please contact the organiser directly for further information.
